There are countless books on the topic of prayer these days, yet many of these books are not worth the paper that they are printed on. By this I mean they are self-serving, self-righteous, self-help books focusing on how to get God to do what you want. Thankfully there are a few stalwart pastor, Scholars, theologians who see prayer as what it is comma communication with God so that we may fulfill his revealed will.
One of these books is the recently released book, Pray About Everything: Cultivating God-Dependency by Paul Tautges and published by Shepherd Press. This book is actually the re-release of Teach Them to Pray, which was original released in 2010. Yet even though this is a release of a book with a new title this book is stalwart in its understanding of God’s sovereignty and the application of it to how God’s people must pray to Him.
As the suggests, Tautges, teaches that even though God knows everything before we say it, that we still must pray about everything which cultivates our dependency on God. The book is divided into two parts the first is a exposition on how we must cultivate a ” God-Dependency”. In which he examines consistent prayer and how it relates to the will of God. In Part 2 he examines how we must pray. This book is a good balance of theological and practical matters so that when one finishes this study, they will have a better understanding of what prayer is as well as, how to pray for the one and only God who by his will is sovereign over all.
Also of note, there are seven appendices in this volume which help a Christian be able to understand more practical matters of Prayer as well as important topics about prayer. I highly recommend this book to any Christian, whether you are a new convert or a seasoned saint, this book will drastically change your thinking on prayer focusing it on God rather than yourself.
