The celebration of the first advent is a yearly tradition in most families and churches. If you are a parent with younger children, children in elementary school, there are many devotionals, yet not many which combine children’s activities, but also showing how Christ’s birth was foretold in the Old Testament and comes to fruition in the New Testament. This book is written by Marty Machowski. Machowski is a household name when it comes to children’s books which are not only biblically sound but winsomely reformed.
After reading through this book, and reading most of it to my children I am confident that not only is this books orthodox in the Christian faith, but easily understood by children. There are three devotionals per week plus a fictional story about Christmas which helps engage with the children, adding a fourth day.
While some people will have an issue that this is not a seven day a week study, as a father of young children, and as a busy pastor, finding time for daily worship can be difficult. Yet having family worship 4 or 5 days a week is very doable. As mentioned before there is a craft added for most days or a task for the children to accomplish. This is truly a wonderful work which I wholeheartedly endorse.
You will not be disappointed.
